Residential New Construction

Originally planned as an extensive remodel, the Loft House project turned new construction when crumbling cast iron pipes discovered in the foundation necessitated tearing up floors and foundation for repairs. The owners used this opportunity to start new, expand the footprint, raise ceilings and add natural light. A recently added screened porch in back would be the only part of the house to remain.

Seeking an inspiring feature for their entry, the homeowners and RestructureStudio collaborated with GC and Interior Designer to design a stunning stair unique to the space. A casual family room open to the kitchen, built-in banquette and formal living room offer spaces that can be used in a variety of ways; allowing inhabitants to feel connected with family, but still have dedicated spaces for everyday tasks.

The Loft House was conceived with sustainability in mind and has earned a 5-star rating with the Austin Energy Green Building Program.
